"Playa del muerto"

“El Rodadero” is the principal beach in Santa Marta, It is situated downtown. I didn´t like this place. It's very contaminated, the sea isn´t clear and ligt blue like the Caribbean always is, and it's always is full of people. Instead, “Playa del Muerto”, also known as “Playa Cristal” is the most beautiful beach that I have visited. The sea is deep blue, the sand is white, the place is quiet and solitary, the beach is practically only for you.

This place is too far from the city. You can only get on a private car (tour) or on a "Chiva" that transport people that working on this beach. It is a deserted, so all the people who work here (kitcheners, boaters, sellers...etc) come of the city.

This "Chiva" comes at 5am o´clock in the morning, so my mom, mi cousin and me had to arrive to the marketplace at 4:30am.

Everyone that we met were beautiful, friendly, cordial, we were the only tourists. We arrive very early to the beach and could enjoy it practically to ourselves.

To reach this beach specifically have to go by boat or turn over all the ground in the woods, I chose to do the latter, but I fell on the road and hurt my leg.

Here, I ate "arepa de huevo", a special food that to do with mass of corn and an egg inside.

I had a problem in this place, I developed an allergy with sea the salt, and I couldn´t swim.

Why this blog?

I love Colombia and I think that before visiting other countries, I want to know mine. My last trip was to Santa Marta. I love this city! The sea is beautiful.

In Santa Marta you can visit “La Quinta de San Pedro Alejandrino”. It is the beautiful "hacienda" where  Simon Bolivar, "The Liberator" died..

I also visited “El acuario” which is the municipal aquarium. There you can see marine animals like dolphins, turtles, and fish of many species up close. I didn´t want to visit this place, because I always cry seeing the animals in captivity.

I recommend to visit Santa Marta. It's a beautiful and wonderful place.

About me

My name is Salome Cardona. I’m student of medicine, but I love a lot of different activities like singing, writing, reading, swimming and chatting with my friends.

My favorite people are the simple people; I have few friends, but they are special individuals on my account. They have my same tastes, since they love music, arts and nature. They aren´t complicated, and they love life and talking about interesting topics.

I like my food, similar to the people and the books in my life: Simple. I don´t like food that is very salty or very sweet. Come to think of eat, I don´t have a favorite food, I like all foods. I love pasta, and lentils. I specially love to eat a typical dish from my country called “Sancocho”. I love avocados, yucca, carrots, coconut and other tropical fruits that you can only find in my country like lulo. In general, I love fruits and vegetables.

Although is shameful to accept it, I love clothes. I’m not a compulsive buyer, but I crave easily of shirts, skirts and dresses. My friends always play jokes on me because of the way I dress. I live in Cali, the climate here is very warm, but I like wearing skirts combine with brightly colored stockings and surprisingly I don´t feel the heat. I love baggy pants; I don’t like tight jeans or short blouses. I love sneakers and boots, I hate high heels. I’m very relaxed regarding the way I dress.
